Lora D. Delwiche
Lora D. Delwiche is an applications software consultant with
Information Technology at the University of California at Davis.
With over 13 years experience using the SAS System, Lora acts
as a SAS site representative and teaches classes on the SAS
language. Her experiences teaching SAS to users from many
different disciplines prompted her to write a book proving that
the SAS System is "not hard to learn."
Susan J. Slaughter
Susan J. Slaughter, an independent computing consultant,
"got hooked" on SAS in graduate school over 13 years ago.
Since then she has used SAS for a variety of business and
academic tasks: managing large databases, teaching SAS software
classes, and writing articles about the SAS System. Her
experiences prompted her to write a book that would be both
informative and fun to read.

Great learning tool.

easy to understand, great examples, really solid way to learn SAS. I came into it with no knowledge of SAS, but other database programming knowledge, and this provided everything I needed to gain a solid understanding of SAS.

Very useful, better to start here than from other Sas books which some may find daunting at first. You will need more advanced books for higher level stuff.

Not enough beef

This book helped me get started writing simple SAS programs, but I was soon in need of a more extensive language reference book in order to accomplish anything slightly different than the samples included in the book. The book's value would have been greatly enhanced by the inclusion of appendicies of SAS functions, etc. I was also left wondering what SAS offers beyond the basic level. A list of advanced features with some brief explanation of utility would have been helpful.
